(More customer reviews)I looked around and around on Amazon.com before selecting this yogurt maker to purchase. The #1 reason I selected this one was the price. It was the least expensive model which has a timer.
Pro:
Price
Timer
Ease of use
Con:
Plastic Cups (prefer glass)
Lids that don't fit very well
Cheap plastic overall. Made in China for about .02 cents
The plastic cups hold 150ml, which is about 5oz. If you prefer glass cups, Euro Cuisine offers several different models of yogurt makers on Amazon.com.
You certainly do not "need" such a machine to make yogurt. You can use a heating pad and any container you like, but this makes it easier. Overall I'm happy with my purchase because it meets my needs, and didn't cost a lot.
FYI, you'll need a "starter". I purchased the Girmi RI52 yogurt starter on Amazon.com and it worked very well. You can also use some plain Dannon yogurt. No matter what you use, as long as you keep making yogurt, you just use some from your last batch as the starter for your new batch.
Girmi RI52 yogurt starter, 2 - 5 gram packets.
